Baldur’s Gate 3 Ranked Twentieth in September with Low PS5 Player Engagement

Baldur’s Gate 3 was overwhelming on Steam when it was released exclusively there, a true phenomenon. However, there has been a lot of silence from Playstation 5 players regarding the new title from Larian Studios, and it seems that we have discovered why.

Data from the United States was recently released and we discovered that Starfield came in first place in sales in the month of September, even though it is on Xbox Game Pass. It’s an incredible result. This same result no occurred on PS5 with BGS3.

Mat Piscatella of NPD Group revealed the following:

In September, according to Circana’s Player Engagement Tracker, Baldur’s Gate III ranked 2nd in player engagement on Steam (monthly % of game dashboard), behind only Counter-Strike 2. Starfield ranked 3rd.
No PS5, Baldur’s Gate III ranked 20th on the same metric.

Starfield was behind Baldur’s Gate 3 on Steam, but we should also remind you that it was released on the Microsoft Store and Xbox at the same time, in addition to PC/Xbox Game Pass. Many users certainly preferred to pay a more affordable price to try a new IP. On Xbox he managed to beat Fortnite and Call of Duty.

The PS5 result of Baldur’s Gate 3 was expected by many as this is not a popular genre on consoles, and really not everyone is a fan of turn-based or isometric combat. However, a lot of hype was generated for this title and it is already recognized as GOTY, which is why this result may surprise those who expected more from it.
