Coach Diego Giustozzi Raul Aims for Vietnamese National Team to Qualify for the 2024 Futsal World Cup Finals


Speaking at the press conference before the opening match of Group D in the 2024 Asian futsal tournament qualifying round, coach Diego Giustozzi Raul expressed confidence about the careful preparation of the Vietnamese team. The Argentine coach once again affirmed that the main goal of the Vietnamese team is still to compete for the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup finals.

Coach Diego Giustozzi Raul said: “As you know, the goal of the Vietnamese team is to win the right to participate in the 2024 FIFA Futsal World Cup Finals. To do that, we need to overcome the challenge at the futsal tournament. Asia 2024, in which the qualifying phase starting tomorrow will be the first step.”

With the achievement of participating in the FIFA Futsal World Cup finals twice, the Vietnamese team is rated higher than its opponents in the same group, Nepal, South Korea and host Mongolia. Among these three opponents, the biggest obstacle for the Vietnamese team is considered to be South Korea. However, in the 2022 Asian futsal tournament, the Vietnamese team shared a group with this opponent and won convincingly 5-1, thereby joining Japan in the quarter-finals. Therefore, with their current strength, coach Giustozzi Diego Raul and his team can absolutely aim for number 1 in the race in this group.

“We have respect for all our opponents, but our goal is to win every match. We feel confident and have also prepared very carefully for this tournament,” coach Diego Giustozzi Raul affirmed.

According to the match schedule, the Vietnamese team will meet Mongolia on October 7, Nepal on October 9 and South Korea on October 11. Before the opening match, coach Diego Giustozzi Raul finalized the official list of the Vietnamese team including 14 players.
