FAČR’s Representative Attended FIFA Workshop in Tashkent, Uzbekistan

At the beginning of October, a FIFA workshop was held in the capital of Uzbekistan with the participation of selected European and Central Asian football associations. The Czech Republic was also represented by Jakub Tomek, coordinator of the women’s national team and project manager of the FAČR.

The workshop in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, followed the visit of FIFA President Gianni Infantino to Central Asia in May this year. At that time, the FIFA President gave an insight into the activities that are taking place in support of the FIFA Forward football development program.

The workshop in Uzbekistan was attended by six member associations from the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) region – Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyz Republic, Iran and Afghanistan. These countries were supplemented by representatives of European UEFA associations – the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Portugal, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.

“The aim of the workshop was to bridge the large gap between football levels around the world and to build a suitable platform where football development initiatives and expertise could be shared,” said Sanjeevan Balasingham, FIFA Director of Member Associations for Asia and Oceania in his opening remarks at the start of the workshop. “Central Asia is an important partner in FIFA’s efforts to develop football globally,” dodal balasingham.

“I am really glad that I got the opportunity to present the development of Czech women’s football at the first Eurasian meeting organized by FIFA. I think we are not doing badly at all, even if there is a need to constantly improve several areas. Above all, the membership base, the infrastructure or the training of trainers. Sharing information, which was the main topic of the workshop, would greatly help the Czech environment. We plan to use the newly acquired contacts not only for international confrontation, but also for closer cooperation in the women’s football environment. The Uzbek Football Association itself is making progress, which is evidenced by, for example, the number of international matches played or the allocation of the organization of the Futsal World Cup for 2024.” said the Czech representative at the event, Jakub Tomek, after returning from the workshop.
