Leaked Theme and Release Date for Mortal Kombat 1 Season 2

When is the Mortal Kombat 1 Season 2 release date? Mortal Kombat 1 is finally here, and its first season, Season of the Spectre, has us fighting our way through several Mesas to take down Hellfire Scorpion. But, by now you may be wondering when Season 2 will start.

Seasons are Mortal Kombat 1’s way of adding new Invasions content and resetting the Kombat League. So now that Mortal Kombat 1 is out on PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC, Seasons will be the primary way we get new content in the future. This will come in the form of new stories and activities in Invasions, in addition to new Mortal Kombat 1 characters and Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo fighters which will be added into our Mortal Kombat 1 tier list and Mortal Kombat 1 Kameo tier list.

Mortal Kombat 1 Season 2 release date

The Season 2 release date for Mortal Kombat 1 is set for Thursday, November 2, 2023, on PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC. This is according to Mortal Kombat 1’s in-game countdown which shows Season of the Spectre running for 45 days total.

NetherRealm hasn’t revealed much about Season 2, but we do have some hints, which we detail below.

Mortal Kombat 1 Season 2 theme

According to an alleged datamine of Mortal Kombat 1 from ‘thethiny’ on Twitter/X the next four seasons are: Season of Blood, starring Nitara; Season of Thunder, which will focus on Raiden; Season of the Hybrid, centering Mileena; and Season of the Cryomancer, which spotlights Sub-Zero. So it looks like Nitara will be the focus of the next season.

This makes sense when you consider Megan Fox voices her and she is the most high-profile member of the Mortal Kombat 1 voice actors and cast list.

It’s impossible to know whether this information is true as it doesn’t come directly from NetherRealm, but there are reasons to believe this is legitimate. Firstly, the datamine has revealed recorded voice lines for future Invasions seasons that have been posted on YouTube, and they appear to be legitimate.

We also have a bit of a clue from the end of season one. After beating Hellfire Scorpion, splattered blood spells out “Season 2: Koming Soon.” That would be a good way to tease a Season of Blood, right?

The datamine does not reveal which season will be next, so this is merely speculation. Based on the above information, however, we believe Nitara is the next logical choice, and Season of Blood will be next. If not, it will likely be one of the other options listed above. Perhaps we’ll go straight from Scorpion to Sub-Zero for a little Lin Kuei continuity. After all, they are the two most famous characters in Mortal Kombat. Or maybe Ed Boon and company want to split up the ninjas and give us a little variety.

Season 2 will also likely bring Mortal Kombat 1’s first DLC character, confirmed by Ed Boon himself to be the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 Omni-Man release date, if he doesn’t make an earlier appearance. Season 2 will be a huge update to Mortal Kombat 1, and it would make sense to bundle Omni-Man with Season 2 in a single patch. Omni-Man also has a tendency to beat his enemies into a bloody pulp. Okay, this is Mortal Kombat, everyone does that, but Omni-Man is probably more famous for it than any of the other DLC characters, however, and his release date would dovetail nicely with the new season’s suspected theme.

Beyond that, Season 2 will also bring new character cosmetics to unlock in Invasions and the Shrine, as well as new seasonal content that can be purchased with Koins, which you receive for completing daily and weekly quests, and playing Invasions. Season of the Spectre emphasized a fiery color palette with a lot of red and yellow costumes, and we have to imagine that Season 2’s cosmetic items will follow a similar theme with several red cosmetics, for instance, while Season of the Cryomancer would naturally have some icy blues.
