Extra and Premium level PlayStation Plus subscribers will see a wide selection of new games for PS5 and PS4 arriving in October 2023: let’s see them together.
What are the giochi PS5 e PS4 available starting October 17, 2023 for subscribers to PlayStation Plus Extra e Premium? The list includes the engaging but controversial Gotham Knights, the extraordinary Disco Elysium: The Final Cut and a rich array of horror titles, including The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes and Alien: Isolation.
What is the best game of the month for Multiplayer.it readers? According to our inevitable survey, it is hands down Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, with 50% of the preferences. Followed by the classic and unforgettable Alien: Isolation with 14% of the votes and Gotham Knights with 13%, while House of Ashes and Elite: Dangerous are rather distant.
Batman is dead and it’s up to his pupils to protect Gotham: this is the incipit of Gotham Knights, the interesting action RPG developed by WB Games Montreal, the authors of the excellent Batman: Arkham Origins, who wanted to shine the spotlight on the members of the Batfamily beyond there of the Dark Knight and build the entire game around them.
At the command of Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hoodwith the possibility of switching from one to the other at any time, we will therefore find ourselves facing some of our mentor’s historical nemeses, including the disturbing Court of Owls: the secret society that plots in the shadows to conquer the city and uses lethal emissaries, the Talons, to attack its victims.
The system works, and although the differences with the Batman: Arkham saga are felt on several occasions, it must be recognized that the developers have managed to create a good experience, which however gira are PS5 and salt 30 fps and it doesn’t go beyond the now inflated structure of traditional open worlds: we talked about it in the review of Gotham Knights.
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut
Disco Elysium: The Final Cut enters the PlayStation Plus catalog for Extra and Premium users, bringing with it the brilliant writing which characterizes this original adventure, in which we take on the role of an investigator who is the victim of amnesia and is therefore determined to recover his memories and recompose his personality during a story that will not fail to involve you.
The charm of the game created by Robert Kurvitz, Aleksander Rostov and Helen Hindpere is naturally expressed through its numerous dialogues, capable of giving the gameplay an unprecedented degree of freedom and to add further depth to a narrative sector that fears very few comparisons, as we had the opportunity to explain in the review of Disco Elysium: The Final Cut.
The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes
Third chapter of the horror anthology created by Supermassive Games, The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes proposes the cinematic formula that distinguishes the adventures of the English studio, but this time trying to introduce a radical change in the setting and leading us among the ruins of the ancient civilizations that populated Iraq.
The story that is told is that of a group of soldiers sent to track down Saddam Hussein, but who instead find themselves exploring what remains of a temple of Sumerian origin, soon becoming trapped in a nightmare made of mysterious creatures that move in the shadows and which seem to come straight from hell. Have you read our review of The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes?
Creative Assembly’s great classic is a survival horror full of tension, which still stands today as the best transposition of the famous saga cinematic. Alien: Isolation is in fact this and much more: a true sequel to the original film in which we control Amanda, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, who fifteen years after the disappearance of the Nostromo finds the ship’s black box.
Unfortunately it soon turns out that the device is not the only thing left of that dramatic misadventure and that one Xenomorph survived, ready to make us live another nightmare as we try to escape it through the long corridors and dark rooms of a space station, feeling constantly hunted. More details in the Alien: Isolation review.
The other games of October 2023
Dead Island: Definitive Edition is the remaster of Techland’s first-person action survival, the story of a dream vacation that turns into a nightmare when hordes of zombie they suddenly attack the resort we are in together with many other tourists, starting a massacre from which we will have to try to escape by fighting with any weapon available.
Outlast 2 closes October’s large batch of horror titles with a disturbing experience, in which we will find ourselves wandering near a village controlled by a mysterious sect, armed only with a night vision video camera, desperately searching for our wife. In fact, we won’t be able to fight the fanatics, we can only hide and flee in the hope that they don’t hear us.
Elite: Dangerous will instead allow us to explore space on board a spaceship, spending the first hours understanding how the mechanisms that regulate the experience work and then actually taking off, completing a series of transport tasks, earning the credits necessary to upgrade the ship or purchase a new one and equip it of the weapons necessary to face the dangers that await us in the void of the galaxy.
FAR: Changing Tides also focuses on exploration, remaining however within the context of an adventure that takes place exclusively on this planet, in this case among the waters that have enveloped the surface after a cataclysm, devastating cities and eliminating society as we know it. In this post-apocalyptic scenario we will find ourselves navigating towards new hopes, following the evolution of an exciting story.
Gungrave GORE needs very little introduction, but in the negative: we are faced with one of the worst games of recent yearsan action shooter with atrocious level design, a completely wrong balance and a wooden gameplay, probably the definitive confirmation that the mangaka Yasuhiro Nightow, creator of the famous Trigun, should not have tried his hand at video games.
In a time when soulslikes are back in fashion, Eldest Souls undoubtedly represents a valuable addition to the PlayStation Plus catalog for Extra and Premium subscribers. In fact, we are talking about an action RPG equipped with those specific characteristics and a boss rush style structure with absolutely exciting resolutions, supported by an excellent combat system.
Roki closes the list of PS5 and PS4 games arriving in October: it’s a fascinating one adventure inspired by Scandinavian folkloreequipped with an attractive graphic style and a narrative segment certainly capable of captivating from the very first lines, as we follow the journey of the young but courageous Tove to save her family.
Finally, there is no shortage of classici PlayStationreserved as we know for Premium users: this month the brilliant fighting games Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny arrive, the fun collection of minigames Ape Escape Academy and the puzzle game IQ Final.
